The St George’s Community Players are delighted to announce…

…that their March 2025 production will be Quartet by Ronald Harwood, a play that will surely strike a chord!

Directed by Sharon Lamont, Quartet will be performed on the evenings of 27th and 28th March with a matinee performance on the 29th March at St George’s Church Hall (The Church on the Bridge, Morpeth).

Make a note in your diary and join us for a beautiful and delightful play that is both funny and touching. It is full of wicked and saucy humour, about growing old and about art. It is a play of hope and confidence for people who in their retirement fear they may no longer have as much to offer. It is a play that loudly affirms, that us older people still have a zest for life and still have the same desires, needs and worries as we did when we were young, if not more!

Ticketing and further information to follow.

Here is the line up for our cast:
Cecily Robson – Janet Robinson
Reginald Paget – Alan Bullock
Wilfred Owen – Karl Bovenizer
Jean Horton – Bridget Rowbottom

La comédie est finie.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR LADY CHAIRMAN. (Sue Rutherford ‘Mrs Reece’)

Well done everyone involved with Farndale Avenue. Audiences loved it, all three nights, enjoyed by three good houses.

We have been blessed with 2 new members who were both involved with this production, Dave (id) Coghill who had been at almost every rehearsal and played the part of ‘Stooge in the Audience’ so admirably. Karl Bovenizer has come to us very recently and found himself with the role of prompter. I’d like to say he had it easy but…… Bain Marie, Bain Marie et Quelle Domage!

Of course we also have Suzi Hutton who joined us for our Patron’s evening Murder Mystery and was persuaded to come back to us again.

Bravo the cast, “Thelma” played by Lena Walsh, “Felicity’ played by Bridget Rowbottom, ‘Minnie’ played by Suzi Hutton, ‘Gordon’ played by Alan Bullock, all performing multiple characters in this “comédie of mishaps” with skilful timing and great aplomb.

Well done to Jo who put up with us all when all she signed up for was directing!

Thank you to Anne-Marie, Pam, Ilona and all the FoH volunteers.

A massive thank you to our amazing set building and tech team. We could not manage without you. Big round of applause to Robin, Stephen, Kev and Tommy. The latter was the real star of the show.

Thanks to all who have helped to erect the stage and to disassemble it on Sunday afternoon. Please thank any members of your families who came along to lend a hand.

Every production is a team effort. Well done team Farndale Avenue

Look out for our next production – March 2025
